After you’ve finally given birth and are getting settled at home, you’ll be craving rest, peace and quiet.  The last thing you will feel like doing is packing all your stuff together for a trip out.  Having a photo session in your home will give you gorgeous pictures of your newborn baby without you having to do very much at all.

Your natural newborn session with be laid-back, fuss-free and stress-free.

It will feel like an old friend popped by for a visit – relaxed and comfortable. I don’t use props and won’t do any curly poses with your baby.  Nor put you and your partner in any awkward positions or boss you around.  Instead we’ll simply go with the flow.

All you will need to do is relax and snuggle up with your baby, which is exactly what you’ll be doing anyway.  If they need settling, changing, feeding (they will), it will all be captured.  I’ll be on hand to give you some gentle direction to help you get the most out of your session.

Questions often asked

Won’t it feel odd having a stranger in my home?  You would think so but it really won’t.  We’ll have a chat before your shoot by phone or Skype so we won’t be complete strangers.  You will be totally focussed on this little bundle you are holding that after 5 minutes of me being there it will feel like you have a friend round for a cuppa (who just happens to be taking photographs.)  It will all feel very natural.

What if my baby is unsettled?  Because the shoot is around 2 hours there will be plenty of time to settle your baby.  If your baby is permanently attached to your breast we’ll work around that too.

I don’t think my house will be big enough or modern enough for a home shoot.  Many people worry about this beforehand but it’s never an issue once they receive their pictures.  Your shoot is not focussed on your home but on your baby and family.  I’m able to create beautiful images in the smallest of rooms because I know how to use light to get the best images possible.

My own newborn is now  18 years old – I didn’t see that coming.  It felt like one minute I was stroking her downy shoulders, the next she was walking and then suddenly I was answering questions about maths homework.  When you bring your baby home, each day you’ll feel like the day before was a blur – and soon you’ll remember much of that time as a blur.  It’s such a unique and short-lived experience and I will make sure you have all the details from this time you’ll wish to have.  But you don’t have to wait until the future to enjoy your images – you can do so much with them now.

You can make one or two into thank you cards for all the lovely newborn cards and gifts you’ll receive.   Hang one on the wall as a piece of art or a few altogether as a gallery.  Or have a beautiful coffee table book (which can double up as a stress reliever by locking yourself in a cupboard with it when you have a screaming toddler, to remember when they were cute and angelic).
