As I was editing this particular shoot I remembered a time when I worked from a studio doing family portraits.  One day I had a family of twin 3 year old boys…
Adorable, gorgeous, cute and …….. one of they wouldn’t play.  No amount of cajoling, persuading, bribing would make him join in the shoot.  It was NO, NOPE, NO WAY to EVERYTHING.   He was totally just being a normal 3 year old having a NO day.  His twin bro was absolutely fine on the other hand.

So I ended up with some great pictures of one twin, happy, smiley and having a ball.  Next to the other that was glum, crying or angry.  I knew dad really wanted some nice pictures of his twin boys. He lived not far from the studio so I suggested we give it another go. The following week we did it all again.  This time however the other twin was having a no to everything day. And exactly the same thing happened, one happy little boy, one not so happy little boy.

So I had two sets of pictures and the only way I could get some great pictures to dad was to join them together.

So I maxed out on my photoshop ‘skills’  and salvaged the near disastrous shoots…

But I guess that every time dad looks at his photographs he doesnt remember this shoot fondly…. and all I remember is photoshopping for hours after.

I don’t do studio shoots anymore, thankfully.  The main reason being that I much prefer natural photographs of children in a real environment.  An environment that they love or that they are familiar with.  And if they do get upset or unsettled or they are having an off day the chances are there will be something that will make them happy.  Something they are familiar with or something that can distract them.

And never again will I have to piece 2 shoots together…

This gallery is of the Bell Family.  Yummy mummy Claire, cool dad Jaime and gorgeous Zachary.  At home, with his swing, his toys and his high chair if he had been unsettled it would not have been a problem… as it was he was a breeze of a model and took it all in his stride.  Here are a few of my faves.
