We got a cool set of images from this shoot doing nothing special at all.
Against the fabulous backdrop of Tynemouth Longhands beach, with its gorgeous landscape and Crusoe’s cafe, I did a photo shoot with the lovely Adkins family. Mum Catherine, dad Seb, and their two beautiful girls Bella and Florence.
The day looked lovely enough when we started mooching around the beach but belied a really cold wind that froze Florence to her little bones. Cue dads coat, cutting the time on the beach short, a huge blanket, a hot chocolate in Crusoe’s and eventually her shivering stopped and her blue lips turned back to normal.
And the pictures captured all of this.
The family photography shoots I do are for the most part unposed. Because as well as the fact that I love this style, people on the whole don’t find posing for photographs appealing. Or easy. For some people just the very thought of posing for a set of photographs makes them want to run for the hills Forrest Gump stylee. You rarely, if ever, hear anyone say the words ‘Oh I just LOVE having my photo taken’.
My photo shoots are informal, candid and natural to help people feel relaxed and comfortable enough to just be themselves. We don’t strive to make it look you’re are having this amazing fun, best ever time on the beach, but if you are that’s great! You simply do what you normally do at the beach and I just hang out with you and take pictures. It’s that easy.
And very often people forget they’re on a photography shoot and this is a good thing, because all I want to do is to hand you a collection of images that makes you squeal “Oh, these are just SO us!”.
