I love, love, love newborn photography photo sessions, in case you haven’t seen previous blog posts and don’t know this already… Even if family life with a newborn baby is chaotic and sleeplessness begins to take its toll there is still, for me as a newborn photographer a wonderful feeling of tranquility and happiness and an overriding sense of the joy of new bondings. New bondings are so precious and this is what I aim to capture in a newborn photo session. I’m not interested in cute poses, headbands and rabbit tail pants (though these can look fabulous and hats off to the photographers who do this so well…). But for me it’s all about the bonding and connections – the looks, the touches, the smiles, the wonderment…
This session is with baby Seth and his parents Jessica and Jonathan. Jonathan was quite reluctant I learned. I do usually expect this as most men are reluctant when it comes to family photography (see my post about this very subject). But his fears were assuaged very quickly when he realised I wasn’t setting them up in rigid poses and expecting them to smile on cue – I actually think he may have even enjoyed it a little 🙂 . Baby Seth took a break from his usual routine of a long sleep and stayed awake for pretty much the whole session, obviously not wanting to miss out on all the fun. And it was fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it and love the pictures we made that day.
Newborn shoots can be done anytime within the first month or so of your baby being born. The ideal time is around 2 weeks but you can have them earlier than this if you choose. Click here for more newborn galleries.
If you’d like to book a photo session with your newborn or would like to give a friend or relative a gift for their newborn present please contact me here to arrange this. I look forward to hearing from you 🙂
